Yesterday I bared my heart and told you Why I Write For Young Readers. Today, I’d love to hear from you. Why do you write? Why do you write the kind of books, stories, poems, articles or whatever it is you write? This is your chance to bare your heart, dear reader.
I write because I can’t help it. Here’s Here’s a link to my music playlist that I write by — enjoy! http://tuesdayswithlaurie.com/2012/12/18/the-key-of-sea-a-music-playlist-to-write-by/
Thank you for your response, Laurie, and thank you for your playlist, as well. I have list of songs that I call “The Soundtrack of my Life” and a list I’ve started that I would like played at my eventual memorial, but not a writing playlist. I’m glad it works for you. One of these days I’ll give it a try.
I write because apparently, according to people who become acquainted with me, I have lived an unusual life, and I’d like my children and grandchildren to know something of it. Naturally, they would never read a plain old autobiography about their ordinary mom and grandma, so I weave my own background and personality into mysteries that they might someday read. So far, only one of them is on board, and he gives me valuable feedback from time to time.
That sounds like a great reason to write, R.Z.Halleson. Mysteries filled with the experiences you’ve enjoyed in your “unusual” life – that sounds tantalizing. I hope some day all your family members will get “on board.”
